Benefits of the position: The Health Outreach Volunteer provides learning professionals with an interest in social services, the opportunity to work hands on in the field to provide those who qualify affordable health insurance and inform the public of preventative health care. CEC certificate NOT REQUIRED to volunteer

Position Summary: The Health Outreach Volunteer conducts community outreach to increase CCSCC client and other community residents’ knowledge of health issues, promotes the importance of health insurance, assists with scheduling appointments and may even enroll clients in the Covered California health and dental insurances (Certification and training required to enroll). Year round volunteers are needed to outreach in the community to locate perspective clients for Covered California.

Key Responsibilities: Complete required training, do presentations on health issues, schedule appointments for health insurance, provide reports on activities to management as requested, prepare outreach materials such as flyers and brochures and attend outreach events.

Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; second language a plus but not required, good listening skills and ability to assist clients

Requirements and training: Background clearance, maintain bi-yearly TB skin test record; complete Certified Enrollment Counselor Training (for enrollers), complete Volunteer training.
Dates/Times: ASAP – open enrollment ends January 31, 2016; – Ongoing – Weekdays, some evenings and some Saturdays. Minimum 4 hours per week.

Program Description: Spartan Keyes Community Action Center Family Harvest Program distributes food one monthly to approximately 150 low income families.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Greet families, unload food pallets, package and distribute food and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements: Friendly, patient, team player. Volunteer must enjoy helping people; be willing to follow safety rules to maintain safe working conditions, and conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
Volunteer will receive training and ongoing support.
Dates/Times 4th Tuesday of each month from 1:00– 6:00pm.
Minimum six month commit.
Minimum age: 16
TB clearance required.
FP/background clearance is required for over applicants 18 years and older.
