Agency Outcomes 2011
Behavioral Health Services
Community Counseling Services The 234 clients served by the agency’s Community Counseling Services throughout the year increased their current social-relational functioning by about a half of a category (as measured by the Global Assessment of Functioning tool used by the mental health clinicians to assess the social, occupational, and psychological functioning of adults).
Employment The Focus for Work and Refugee Resettlement programs placed nearly 200 clients into jobs at a weighted average hourly rate of $9.74 for an annualized income of $3.9 million.
Housing Over 850 individuals and families were provided Housing Search and Stabilization services and/or Supportive Housing to obtain and keep affordable housing.
Children Youth and Family Development Services
The CORAL after school program delivered intensive daily literacy and academic enrichment services to nearly 4,000 children and youth throughout the recent school year, generating an average reading score gain of .92 years.
The Jail Services program processed over 5,500 requests from inmates —the only such service provided by a local nonprofit in local jails.
Economic Development Services
The Tax EZ program 2,040 returns were processed, putting $2,827,321 in refunds back into the pockets of working poor families ($1,039,092 of which was generated via the Earned Income Tax Credit).
The Immigration Legal Servicesprogram served nearly 3,000 clients and achieved a 100% success rate in obtaining positive determinations from the USCIS.
Older Adult Services
Day Break Adult Day Care Ninety-nine percent of seniors participating in our Day Break adult day care programs for at least six months have remained in their family homes and out of institutional care. The average annual cost of participating in Day Break ($4800) is approximately one-tenth the cost of assisted living and an even smaller fraction of nursing home care.
Senior Nutrition Program Over 2,000 seniors participated in the Senior Nutrition program—75% of whom reported that the lunch was their primary meal of the day.
Ombudsman Program Over 12,000 residents of skilled nursing or residential facilities were seen by the Long Term Care Ombudsman program, driven primarily by a team of 45 highly trained volunteers.
