Catholic Charities helps eligible immigrants navigate the often-daunting process of becoming a U.S. Citizen, giving them the opportunity to establish firm roots in this country so they can thrive. With offices in San Jose and Gilroy, the agency provides services including assessment of eligibility, application assistance, interview preparation, and referrals to English and citizenship classes. Catholic Charities also provides resettlement and retraining services for refugees and asylees who have fled war, persecution, and violence in their home countries. Programs include computer classes and English as a Second Language, as well as foster care support services for youth found living alone in refugee camps around the world, which is the only program of its kind in California.
