Summary of services:

• Provide community trainings and events to promote family wellness on topics such as healthy communication, community resources, health topics, and other related topics

• Provide opportunities for community members to get involved in advocacy efforts, such as gaining access to health care services that are linguistically and culturally appropriate

• Provide opportunities for community members to be trained as peer health educators on health topics and other family wellness issues so that they can lead support groups and presentations to their neighbors

• Provide mentoring activities for middle school age youth at Sylvandale Middle School

• Provide leadership and mentoring activities for high school youth at Andrew Hill High School

• Provide quarterly community service projects such as community clean-ups, food drives, and a community garden increase

Who is eligible?

• For middle school activities,; youth attending sixth to eighth grades

• For high school activities, youth attending ninth to 12th grades

• Other services serve youth and adults

What volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteers may work with middle school and high school age youth through a variety of opportunities such as tutoring, leading group activities, and mentoring. Additionally, they can assist with other community events such as meetings and service projects.
