Description and Services:
The Successful Parents Program helps parents to develop a stronger, healthier relationship with their pre-teens (8-12 years), in order to help them enjoy a smooth, positive transition to adulthood. Through a series of interactive workshops, we help parents to develop practical, effective communication skills with their pre-teens, helping them to support their children’s mental, emotional and physical growth. Services include:
- Ten week course of parenting workshops in Vietnamese. Two-hour workshop sessions are scheduled once per week. Supervised activities are provided for all pre-teens attending workshops with their parents.
- Optional monthly support groups (2 hours) in Vietnamese for parents who have graduated from our parenting workshops. Supervised activities are also provided for all pre-teens attending support groups with their parents
Eligibility and Requirements: Vietnamese-speaking parents with pre-teens ages 8-12 years. Because this is a skills building, interactive program, parents are required to attend each class session in a workshop series.
Fees: None
Hours and Availability: Evening workshops are available. Call (408) 200-0980 for scheduling/location information.
Geographic Area Served: Workshops are held at school sites in the Franklin-McKinley School District.
Languages spoken: Vietnamese and English
