Program Description:
A free program offered to families with children 0 – 5 years of age. It is designed to nurture the oral language development, creativity and problem solving skills in young children by motivating caregivers to engage with their children in storytelling, circle time, art, music and dance.

Program Description:
Franklin McKinley Children's Initiative (FMCI) is a school reform collaborative seeking to improve low-income, under-performing schools and help all students read by third grade.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Provide childcare for the children whose parents are participating in the Family Literacy program.
Dates/Times:  August - June,  8AM -11AM
Minimum age:  18


Program Description: Offer comprehensive services and direct support to grandparents and caregivers who are solely responsible for a relative child. Provide case management, support groups, educational seminars, recreation, respite, information and referrals. 

1. Office Volunteer Responsibilities:  Provide general office support, copying, filing, data entry, assist in completion and translation documents and other duties as assigned. Provide childcare support and other duties as assigned.
Dates/Times:  Minimum 3 hours per week. (program support from 9AM – 5PM weekdays only)
Minimum age for volunteers:  18+
Required Language Capacity:  English/Spanish/Bilingual preferred but not required.

2. Seminar Volunteer Responsibilities: Provide support with meeting logistics, prepare and set up food and assist in childcare efforts, and other duties as assigned.
Dates/Times:  Minimum 3 hours per week. (program between the evening hours of 5PM - 8PM on assigned evening seminars)
Minimum age for volunteers:  18+
Required Language Capacity:  English/Spanish/Bilingual preferred but not required.

KINSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW:  
The program provides support to relative caregivers who are raising relative children in Santa Clara County.  The position supports the program by providing engaging indoor activities for the children while the caregivers are attending support groups and seminars.  Position suitable for childhood education college students and retirees.  All welcome to apply.
 
Volunteer Responsibilities:
 
Keep all children in sight at all times, plan/engage and provide gentle nurturing presence; tidy the area and put away equipment/toys at the end of each session.  Maintain good relationships with other child care assistants and work as a team.
Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and listening skills.  Knowledge of working with children under 12.
Requirements and Training.  Live scan/background clearance; maintain bi-yearly TB skin test record. First Aid certification and CPR certification.  Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred and encouraged to apply, but not required.
Dates/Times:  5:30PM – 7:45PM on the 1st. 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month (subject to change to accommodate program events, holidays and other conditions)

Skills:  Administrative support, data entry, basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, Internet research, strong verbal & written communication skills

Requirements and Training: Live scan background and TB clearance.  Training/onboarding provided

Dates/Times/Commit:  5 – 10 hours weekly with minimum 6 month commit – as per arrangement with coordinator
