Temporary Therapist I - Children's BHS Intern (2019-31)

GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION: Supports children and families in addressing social-emotional and behavioral concerns in order to help improve family cohesion, school and home functioning, social relationships, coping abilities, and self understanding. Services are provided in a strengths-based, culturally sensitive manner, and include individual sessions, family sessions and therapeutic supervised visitation sessions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Children and Families

* Provides mental health support services to children and their caregivers in the office and community utilizing best practices

* Maintains productivity of 50% with a caseload of 6 clients

* Attends all required trainings regarding documentation, assessment tools, AWARDS etc. according to schedule set by Behavioral Health Division

* Participates in Team, Division meetings and individual supervision according to schedule set by Clinical Program Supervisor

* Records services in a timely manner and maintains client files according to

agency and county policies

* Other responsibilities as assigned to support specific department/business needs

All Programs

Records services, maintains client files, completes monthly activity reports according to program requirements for electronic records – UNICARE and AWARDS

SUMMARY OF OTHER JOB DUTIES:

* Mental Health and Catholic Charities and Essential Learning training software

* Participates in Division meetings and work groups

* Other responsibilities as assigned to support specific department/business needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required education and experience:

* Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, rehabilitation services or other behavioral science or equivalent of education in these fields and experience

* Minimum of one year of a graduate program in social work or marriage and family counseling.

* Bi-lingual skills preferred, e.g. Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, etc.

* Excellent oral and written English skills

* Automobile and valid CA driver’s license

* Auto liability coverage according to the agency requirements

Knowledge, skills & abilities

* Excellent cross-cultural, inter-generational and interpersonal skills.

* Knowledge of and experience with children’s mental health

* High energy and patience in working with difficult clients.

* Computer skills using Windows

* Culturally competent counseling skills

* Availability to work evening hours

HOURS: Part-time Internship - hours scheduled on the basis of client availability and agency operation including evenings
