Therapist II SES (2019-45)

Catholic Charities is working closely with County Social Services Agency to provide Mental Health Services and Case Management Services to youth who do not have Medi-cal insurance or private insurance that does not meet the needs of the client. Additionally, this position will provide support to the SES program where the services mentioned above will also be provided to youth on Juvenile Probation. Pro Social Opportunities will be provided to youth in the SES program.


1. Provide individual, family and group therapy:

o Meet with youth and families in the schools, community, or family home

o Engage clients and family in counseling sessions using CBT to prevent, reduce and treat behavior problems and improve family functioning

o Engage clients in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address severe or emerging behaviors that are trauma related

o Engage clients using Brief Strategic Therapy to empower youth to improve their relationships and improve overall functioning.

2. Provides Clinical Case Management services

o Meet with families in the school, community or in the home

o Formulate, implement and monitor individual client and family assessments and treatment planning

o Conduct follow-ups and monitor service delivery and client progress

o Ensure that all required documentation is properly completed within the required timeframes

o Transfer family and service documentation to electronic data systems as necessary, including AWARDS (electronic health system) and other required Medi-Cal based tracking systems

o Maintains a caseload of 20 families

3. Lead Rehab Groups as needed

4. Conducts community outreach in order to ensure program has the adequate clients in the program as well as to ensure that the community is able to access the service. Will attend mental health fairs and other outreach events as needed.

5. Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor


MA or MS in counseling, psychology, social work or related field (REQUIRED)


* Bilingual Spanish/English – (REQUIRED)

* Board of Behavioral Sciences registration as AMFT, ASW or APCC

* Certified in Triple P Teen- Recommended

* Counseling experience in a community based setting

* Effective verbal and written communication skills

* Understanding of Medi-Cal eligible service provision and billing requirements

* Understanding of and sensitivity toward economic and cultural issues in diverse communities

* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

* Demonstrated computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Internet usage)

* Ability to pass certification requirements for CANS assessment 90 days of hire (training and support will be provided)

* Team oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

* Valid California driver’s license, automobile for local travel and client transport, proof of current auto insurance

* Fingerprinting and background check as required by the DOJ, and DMV clearance

* TB test

* The service is sometimes physical, requiring setting up for events which may require transporting or lifting cumbersome materials, e.g., easels, flip charts, refreshments, brochures, chairs, tables, etc.

* Must be able to report to service site on a regular and reliable basis

* Able to deal with stressful situations

* Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours, as appropriate, to coordinate and provide services and activities for families during non-traditional hours

* Able to travel between sites and to attend offsite events throughout the county, as appropriate


* Must be at least 18 years of age

* Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
