Therapist II - Pro-GRIP (2019-54)

Catholic Charities is working closely with the Juvenile Probation Department to provide Mental Health Services, Case Management Services, Vocational and Educational Services, and Pro-Social activities to youth on probation within the gang unit.


1. Provide individual, family and group therapy:

o Meet with youth and families in the schools, community, or family home

o Engage clients and family in counseling sessions using CBT to prevent, reduce and treat behavior problems and improve family functioning

o Engage clients in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address severe or emerging behaviors that are trauma related

o Engage clients using CBT and Motivational Interviewing techniques in order to assist clients in receiving substance use treatment using a harm reduction emphasis.

2. Provides Clinical Case Management services

o Meet with families in the school, community or in the home

o Formulate, implement and monitor individual client and family assessments and treatment planning

o Conduct follow-ups and monitor service delivery and client progress

o Ensure that all required documentation is properly completed within the required timeframes

o Transfer family and service documentation to electronic data systems as necessary, including AWARDS (electronic health system) and other required Medi-Cal based tracking systems

o Maintains a caseload of 13-16 families

3. Lead Rehab and/or Therapy Groups as needed

4. Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor


MA or MS in counseling, psychology, social work or related field (REQUIRED)


* Bilingual Spanish/English – (REQUIRED)

* Board of Behavioral Sciences registration as MFT Intern, ASW or PCC Intern

* California Board of Psychology registration as a Pre-Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist

* Certified in Triple P Teen- Recommended

* Counseling experience in a community based setting

* Effective verbal and written communication skills

* Understanding of Medi-Cal eligible service provision and billing requirements

* Understanding of and sensitivity toward economic and cultural issues in diverse communities

* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

* Demonstrated computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Internet usage)

* Ability to pass certification requirements for CANS assessment 90 days of hire (training and support will be provided)

* Team oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

* Valid California driver’s license, automobile for local travel and client transport, proof of current auto insurance

* Fingerprinting and background check as required by the DOJ, and DMV clearance

* TB test

* The service is sometimes physical, requiring setting up for events which may require transporting or lifting cumbersome materials, e.g., easels, flip charts, refreshments, brochures, chairs, tables, etc.

* Must be able to report to service site on a regular and reliable basis

* Able to deal with stressful situations

* Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours, as appropriate, to coordinate and provide services and activities for families during non-traditional hours

* Able to travel between sites and to attend offsite events throughout the county, as appropriate


* Must be at least 18 years of age

* Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
